Are you ready to finally see the cover for my June release?
This series (my first) has been several years in the making, and I'm thrilled to be able to see it coming true. This first book is called Destination: Romance, and includes cities like New Orleans, Gulf Shores, Atlanta, and Memphis. That's right. It's a roadtrip romance. And I think it's a lot of fun. Not that I'm biased or anything. ;-) Because this series is a little different, we went with a different style cover from some of my others. This one has more cartoonish figures with one of the city scapes in the background. Are you ready to see what you think? See below!

A writer's brain never stops. At least, mine doesn't.
I'm constantly coming up with new ideas for stories and blogs. And this is a good thing, most of the time. Last year, I started out with a plan to write two stories and get at least one more contract. Instead, I wrote three novels, most of a novella, a couple proposals, and got contracts for a three-book series and two more novellas. Needless to say, I'm not upping my goals this year. That being said, want to know what I plan to work on writing-wise in 2022? This month, I put my characters through the big D. And I do mean Dallas.
While I thought I had written my second roadtrip romance last November, my publisher didn't love the way I had gone about it. So, in order to get the contracts, I needed to rewrite it. I don't know about you, but once I get my head wrapped around something one way, it's hard for me to picture it any other. Especially after pounding out about 60,000 words about it that way. But, onward and upward. This month, I finally got to tackle it. And, I have to admit, I like this version better. Remember the Roadtrip Romances I've been talking about for almost two years now? Guess what! They're coming!!!!! Last week, I signed a contract for all three of my Roadtrip Romances. The first, Destination: Fun (Romance) will release June 2022. Roadtrip for One (Two) will release December 2022. And Operation: Find a Job (Guy) will release June 2023. I'm so excited to share these stories of the various trips Katie, Bree, and Skye take and how they don't turn out quite like expected. Tons of fun locations, friendships, and of course, romance, is on its way.
But that's not all! I also got a contract for another novella. This will release in a collection called Love in Any Season. My story will be called The Missing Piece, about Beth and Tommy and a quilt shop their moms run. It's going to be a fun collection with authors Regina Merrick, Sarah Crouch, and Heather Greer, and I know you're going to love them all. Look for that collection to come out September 2022. In case you don't know what this all means, it means I better get busy and quit letting my muse take a vacation! Ha! I have some rewrites and first writes to do as well as polishing a few other things, but I'm thrilled to continue releasing stories to share with you. And now I want to know. Are you as excited as I am? Which story intrigues you most? Several of you have heard me talk over the last few years of my Roadtrip Romances I'm writing. A trilogy that follows three girls on different roadtrips where they also find romance, of course. Well, I had written the first one a while back, tackled the second one last November, and planned to write the third this summer (still hoping for that). With so much already done and figured out, I went ahead and sent a proposal in, hoping to line these up to start releasing next year.
I have good news and bad news. This year was different. I set out with a plan and a hope, and I finished my Nanowrimo story by the 21st--the earliest I've ever "Won" Nanowrimo. My personal goal was 60,000 words (normal Nanowrimo goals are 50,000, but I'm an overachiever), and I ended at 58,118. Not my personal best, but not the worst, either. Especially since I know my story will grow and evolve during edits over the next year or two.
So, what's next? Have you been wondering what's up with me in the world of writing lately? Well, a couple of things have happened this summer.
At the writers' retreat back in June, we were all encouraged to bring an idea with us for a new story. I wanted to rebel because I'm pretty happy with saving most of my writing for November when I participate in Nanowrimo every year. However, the more I thought about it, the more I could see the characters and plot developing in my head. You see, I had read a blog even earlier in the summer about someone who went on a road trip with her sister. And it got me thinking: what would it look like to write a road trip romance? Enter three girlfriends, Katie, Skye and Bree, who are fresh out of college and just want to spend a week soaking up some fun in a couple different places before they go their separate ways to "grow up." For the last month and half, my muse has been relentless, encouraging me to get the story hammered out. One day I wrote almost 4000 words. But I tied up all the loose ends yesterday and am warning my muse to leave me alone for a few months so I can edit something else. Of course, having very little control over the ways of my muse, it has put another idea in my head--to turn my road trip romance into a series, one for each girl. It might happen. But not yet. I need a few days to just BE. Writing takes a lot of emotional energy. My other news is even more exciting! I have been offered a contract for my book, Saving Grace. Saving Grace unfolds with Michelle Wilson moving back home to Cedar Springs, AR after a life-changing wreck. She plans to be a top reporter at her hometown newspaper, but she has added a complication: she hopes to adopt the baby left behind by the other couple in the accident. When confusing feelings toward her lifelong best friend, Greg Marshall surface, it adds yet another level of confusion to her world. But what if her desire to adopt Grace isn’t what God had in mind for her life after all? This story wilk release April 2021. What do you think? Are you as excited as I am? |
This is a place for me to tell you about what I'm writing, talk about the process or where some of my ideas came from, or even have other authors come in and talk about their books.
