See those beautiful orange pumpkins? We have plenty more where they came from. And when I say plenty, I mean WAY MORE. Last year, we planted two pumpkin seeds and grew one pumpkin. This year, we planted two pumpkin seeds and grew 34 pumpkins. Possibly more. We're really not sure if there are more hiding the middle of the patch where we can't see them for the extra tall grass or not. We keep finding them as they turn orange and show through the green. It's almost ridiculous. What on earth are we going to do with thirty-four (or more) pumpkins? A few are pie pumpkins and a few are jack-o-lantern pumpkins. We'll probably carve a couple of them, because the kids love doing that. And I'll can a few of them. But that still leaves us with a lot more.
I think I'm going to offer and let people buy some for a few dollars a piece. Way cheaper than the grocery stores. And if that doesn't work, I may become THAT neighbor. The one who secretly leaves veggies on your porch and runs away before you discover who it was. Not really, but it does sort of sound fun, in a conniving and manipulative way. So, maybe not the best way to promote neighborly kindness. LOL. Isn't it funny, though, how things vary from year to year? We got more rain this year than last. And milder temps. Apparently, the ideal for growing pumpkins. Life is like that in many ways. One year, things go exactly as planned, or even better. Other years, it's a dry spell and we struggle through as best we can. The results can be sweet either way, right? And if you're thinking pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread and pumpkin cookies, I'm right there with you. So, what do you do during the plentiful years? Do you share? Do you sell the excess and store the money for the dry times? Do you make lots of baked goods and soak up the blessings? What would you do with 34 pumpkins?

This is a place for me to share thoughts and ideas not just related to writing. Thoughts about what's going on in my life, about an idea I got that I thought shareworthy, or just a funny anecdote.
