Monday is my birthday. I love birthdays. I think every single one is a cause for celebration because we are alive and the possibilities in front of us are endless. (I will admit to bemoaning a few birthdays in the past, but I'm embracing my mid-30s and carrying on now.)
All this to say, I'm going to start celebrating a day early by starting a giveaway. I'm going to give you the opportunity to win an autographed copy of my book. I'll send it out to you the moment I have it in my hands this fall. All you have to do is check out my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/amyanguishauthor) for the official rules and the place to sign up. In the meantime, if you were going to give something away for your birthday, what would you choose?

I used to think I was a perfectionist. I don't believe that anymore. Case in point, for my children's first birthdays, I made each of them a quiet book. My son will be one in a week and a half. I am going to sew up all his pages this week so his can be done in time. I finished the final detail today. I admit to trolling pinterest to find ideas and inspiration in several areas of my life. And these quiet books are greatly inspired from there. I can't just do something simple, of course. I have to find a page I like and then make it my own ... maybe even better? So, for this page that shows a traffic light where he can button the colored circles in their correct order, I wanted more. Hence the stop sign and "Go." And so I sat and embroidered the word "stop" on the red octogon this afternoon because it needed something else. The page isn't perfect. The "Go" is pretty sloppy. But it has the details I wanted, so this is the way it stays. It's all about the details.
Maybe someday I will post pictures of all the pages I have done. :-) |
This is a place for me to share thoughts and ideas not just related to writing. Thoughts about what's going on in my life, about an idea I got that I thought shareworthy, or just a funny anecdote.
