Real-life Romance: Instalove?

Insta love is one of those tropes you instantly love (see what I did there) or automatically hate. I think a lot of people feel it’s unrealistic, but honestly, it was very much a thing for me.
Now I’m not going to say I instantly knew I would marry my husband the first time I ever met him, but there was this instant connection when we met.
I met him when I moved to England for my first job in the Air Force. Ours was a workplace romance because he worked same career field. However, two weeks of being together and falling in love, he got orders to deploy.

​Our relationship then turned to a long-distance kind. We wrote emails, talked on the phone when he was able, and sent snail mail (it’s probably sloth-like in terms of deployment/overseas mail).
I won’t say when I professed my love, but it was early. And the moment he got back from deployment, he proposed. We’ve been married for eighteen years and I’m so thankful that our real-life romance has taught me what love is. It’s sacrifices, being strong in a situation where your partner might be weak. It’s iron sharpening iron and helping one another be the best person we could be.
It’s cheering each other on in life’s little victories and comforting one another in life’s trials and tribulations.
It’s forgiveness, grace, and redeeming love.
It’s my real life story and I thank you for letting me share it.
