A lot of you know my son has asthma. In the last few years, it's worsened to the point that he is now on a daily steroid inhaler to keep it under control. A few weeks ago, we missed one day of giving him his "puffs." Not that big of a deal, right? It was only one day. By the evening of the next night, he had a bit of a wheeze to his breathing and was coughing more than he had been. We had to pull out the emergency inhaler to go with his daily one. Especially this time of year, it's so easy to get sick, with the weather going back and forth and everyone around sniffling and bleary. We have to stay on top of the preventatives. But there's more than one area of life where we need to take preventatives. Other places that need some Vitamin C, if you will (and haven't we all been upping our doses of that in the last few years?).
I haven't had as much opportunity to work out in the last few months (and didn't necessarily take advantage on the days when I did) and have noticed a lot of the weight I lost last fall is back again. I quit doing the preventative measures to keep it away. For a long time, I made sure I prayed every morning before my feet hit the floor. Nothing long and drawn out, but a quick "thanks for waking me to another day" and a few requests I knew of for friends and family. That slipped lately. And I can tell my days haven't gone as well. I'm trying to get back into the habit. Good habits are great, but if you break them for several days, it's easy to slip out of them and hard to get back in. We've got to keep up with our preventatives to make sure our lives stay healthy--both physically and spiritually. What are some preventatives you have to always do to keep your life in shape? Any tips for remembering them every day?

This is a place for me to share thoughts and ideas not just related to writing. Thoughts about what's going on in my life, about an idea I got that I thought shareworthy, or just a funny anecdote.
