I adore musicals. But I had never seen "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat" until after I married my husband. It's his favorite, by the way. He grew to love it by watching the Donnie Osmond version on VHS growing up. (Did I just age us?) Since we've been married, we've seen it live several times. Once at the Orpheum in Memphis. Once in Tyler, Texas by a local group. And last weekend. Which might have been the most fun of all. Why was it more fun?
Because we took our kids to see it with us. They've only been to a few plays so far, and this is probably the longest. But worth it. Because to see the joy and excitement on their faces. And to see them experience for the first time what we already love. It's priceless. Is everything the play Biblically accurate? Obviously not. Pharoah probably didn't really sing like Elvis. But ... It sticks fairly close to the story. And the songs stick with you so that you remember them long after you see the play itself. In fact, they're running through my head as I type this post. Will it be our kids' favorite musical? No telling. But it will probably be near the top of the list. Because our love of the songs and story leaked through in our excitement to share it with them. And what's the best thing about being parents? Well, there's lost, but it's a definite perk to be able to pass on your favorite things and see them live another generation. What's one of your favorite plays/musicals you've passed on to your children? Do you love Joseph, too?

This is a place for me to share thoughts and ideas not just related to writing. Thoughts about what's going on in my life, about an idea I got that I thought shareworthy, or just a funny anecdote.
