Not too Late

Last year, we dug up the little plot of daffodils in the random spot in the backyard, which basically made it hard to mow that area. They were ensconced in a lovely old tire. Hear the sarcasm in my typing? Anyway, we thought we had all the bulbs out and in a plastic bag in the garage to plant "later," but we noticed we missed at least two.
​All that being said, please notice how I put "later" in quotes. If you're like me, sometimes later just doesn't come around very often. In this case, I remembered that I was going to replant my bulbs when I saw the ones coming up in my all my neighbors' yards.

Well, everyone knows that daffodils are the dumbest flowers and they choose to start growing and blooming sometime in February around here, despite the fact that we were still getting a bit of snow and frost. I didn't think planting bulbs in that kind of weather would be a great idea, despite the fact that similar ones were coming up a few yards away.
But, God blessed us with a few beautiful afternoons in the 70s, so I got my garden tools out and headed out to soak up some Vitamin D, and stick those bulbs in the ground, figuring at least I might get some next year, if nothing else.
They're coming up!
That's right. My bulbs are coming up in spite of my delays and forgetfulness. A whole row of sweet little green heads are poking through the ground, reaching up towards the sunshine. I'm hoping to get a few flowers this year and maybe even more next, but I'm just excited to see any.
It wasn't too late for the daffodils. And that means there's probably more areas in my life where I'm not too late. Sometimes, I look at my age and what I've accomplished versus what someone else has accomplished in the same amount of time. And it depresses me. But you know what?
If my daffodils bloom this year, they're going to be as lovely as the ones that poked up in February. It doesn't matter when you bloom, only that you do.
