Remember when 40 sounded old? Well, I have a year until I hit that big milestone. And it doesn't seem nearly as ancient as it did twenty years ago. Funny how that happens, right? Younger me had all sorts of ideas of what should happen by each age. I wanted my first baby to come when I was twenty-five. She came when I was thirty-two. My second child came when I was thirty-four. Needless to say, we decided that child number three wasn't going to happen for multiple reasons. After graduating college, I just knew I was going to be able to write and get published quickly and not have to work a "real job."
My first book released in 2017, when I was thirty-five. And while I've had three other books come out since then, with more on the way, I'm still working another job in addition to writing. We were going to travel some. Ha! We were going to stay in that house we bought in Texas for a long time. Ha, again! So many goals and plans changed as life threw curve balls. But you know what? I like where I am right now. I like the house we now own. I like the town we live in and the friends we surround ourselves with. I like my "other" job. I even like my kids most days. ;-) So, no. My life probably doesn't look exactly like I thought it would at this point, but it does look good. And forty is the new thirty, right? So, I plan to end this decade well, and start the new one with as much joy and planning as I started this one. Here's to proving that forty really isn't that old. Have you hit any milestone years and decided they weren't as bad as you originally thought? Had life throw some changes into your plans that turned out okay anyway?

This is a place for me to share thoughts and ideas not just related to writing. Thoughts about what's going on in my life, about an idea I got that I thought shareworthy, or just a funny anecdote.
