Know that verse in the Bible that talks about how the birds don't have to worry about what they'll eat? Because God takes care of them. Well, this summer, evidently the birds decided God was taking care of them through my tomato vines. Sigh. Don't get me wrong. We've gotten tons of tomatoes this summer. So, I really can't complain. But it's just so frustrating to see a hole poked in a tomato just turning red, so perfect otherwise, and now mostly ruined due to bird germs and bugs and the way it's starting to rot. And yet, maybe I needed the reminder. Not the reminder that birds like tomatoes almost as much as I do.
But the reminder that if God is going to take care of all the little birds who don't matter as much to Him, how much more is He going to take care of me? Because let me tell you, it's been one thing after another around here this year. Multiple car repairs. Hearing aide expenses. Change in insurance which makes kids' things cost a bit more. House repairs (siding, soffits, gutters, and windows too!) I think you get the idea. And now my husband is going through appointments trying to figure out why he's having so many headaches lately. Yep. And when everything starts to add up, it's easy to think, "Yikes, how are we going to pay for everything?" But most of that is already paid off. And when the disposal started leaking, God knew I couldn't handle one more thing at that time. So, one day Jeremy was offered a couple extra hours and given a gift card that more than covered the cost. And a friend helped install it in exchange for some mending. Problem solved. Because God will take care of me. It might not always be how I wish it were (like just having the money magically appear in my bank accounts or not needing the repairs in the first place). We live in a broken world and things are going to break. And God will help me through it. Just like He has every. other. time. Because He cares for even the stupid little tomato-loving birds. How much more does He care for me? Do you sometimes need that reminder too?

This is a place for me to share thoughts and ideas not just related to writing. Thoughts about what's going on in my life, about an idea I got that I thought shareworthy, or just a funny anecdote.
