Happy Easter weekend. Are you ready? This year, we're incorporating a few new things in with our normal traditions. Of course, new outfits are on the agenda. I'm soaking up being able to sew for my children as long as they'll let me. Gingham overalls for the boy (with hand cross-stitched train on the bib) and a striped bunny dress for the girl. Something tells me they'll start rebelling against such childish outfits soon. I even found a new dress for me at Ross the other day. My husband always says he'll just wear something he already has. I did offer. Of course, we're doing all the egg hunts and church and school ... and hopefully in the back yard, depending on the rain they're calling for. The Easter bunny will come and fill baskets with new books and summertime goodies, as well as new Braves shirts since they've both outgrown last year's. And grandparents on both sides send goodies, too, as well as the "grand-neighbor" next door. ;-)
We're going to have grilled lamb roast and cheesy potatoes. Yum. And I'm hoping to make up some orange cinnamon rolls for breakfast. And we're munching on orange carrot cookies and malted milk ball cookies, too. Needless to say, the food is good. We added something this year, though. Our daughter participated in a few activities in Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes. What is that? It's a big convention that happens every year over Easter weekend in several locations through the states. Churches come together and students from the very young through high school can compete and show off their skills in speeches, song leading, debate, artwork, memory work, bible bowl, etc. All my daughter wanted to do this year was artwork and saying the Books of the Bible, but she's getting recognized for it. And we're going to be supporting other friends who are doing more, with hopes our kids will want to do more each year, too. It's a great way for kids to learn skills and knowledge they'll need as leaders of the church down the road, and I'm excited to add it to our traditions. No extra family here this year, but that's okay, too, because we'll see them on other occasions soon. Are you celebrating Easter in any new or old ways this year? What's a tradition you love this time of year?

This is a place for me to share thoughts and ideas not just related to writing. Thoughts about what's going on in my life, about an idea I got that I thought shareworthy, or just a funny anecdote.
