Have you ever driven a road so often that you barely notice what's around you anymore? That's sort of the point I'm reaching on the path to and from school. I drive my daughter in each morning, and depending on traffic, it takes about thirty-five minutes. But this is my second year of doing so, and a lot of it doesn't even get noticed now. But one field in particular catches our attention pretty much every day. There's a corn field beside the road which is mowed down in the winter. And almost every morning, we can catch sight of a few (or sometimes a lot) of deer out feeding among the shorn stalks.
They're hardly ever close enough to have to worry about us hitting one of them. But it's still fun to glance over and see how many are out that morning. Especially when I can point them out to the kids, too. Why aren't they "just what we always pass everyday" and therefore forgotten or neglected? I'm honestly not sure. But it is a reminder to look around us more and spot the little reminders of God's artistry, His creativity and beauty, not to mention His peace. In the midst of crazy traffic, there's a little oasis where wildlife still feels safe to eat their breakfast. But we have to look or we'll miss it. And isn't that the case with everything on earth? If we take it all for granted or as rote, we miss the little things. And don't we need those reminders? What is something you try to never miss? Where do you see God more often than not?

This is a place for me to share thoughts and ideas not just related to writing. Thoughts about what's going on in my life, about an idea I got that I thought shareworthy, or just a funny anecdote.
