I have a water bottle with lines on it. The lines have various times of the day and encouraging little phrases supposed to help me drink more water. I can normally fill and empty it about twice a day if I pay attention. The other morning, it was sitting on the table at breakfast and still had some water left in it from the night before. My kids studied it while downing their toaster pastries. "Mommy, did you not drink enough water yesterday?" They're always excited to see if the level is where it should be according to the time of day. Sometimes it can be a bit annoying, but it's also sweet because they can be the best cheerleaders. They want to make sure I'm doing what I set out to do.
It got me thinking. As we focus on drinking so many ounces each day, do we also focus on making sure we get enough of the Living Water? The one that won't leave us thirsty again? It's even harder than making sure that water level is on the right line at 3 in the afternoon. Some days, the Bible reading just falls through the cracks. Maybe we need lines and encouraging phrases each day. "Don't give up." "A little bit more." "You did it!" Or maybe we need cheerleaders to check on us and make sure we hit that daily goal. But one way or another, let's try to focus more on making sure we get enough water--both kinds. What works for you? How do you make sure you're taking in enough water?

This is a place for me to share thoughts and ideas not just related to writing. Thoughts about what's going on in my life, about an idea I got that I thought shareworthy, or just a funny anecdote.
