I decided to write a book this month. Well, I looked at my editing and deadline schedule and decided this was going to be the best shot at writing Beauty School and the Beast. After all, I've written a book in a month before. Many times, actually. At least once, I wrote a book in 18 days. I could do this. I forgot something very important. This is December. I don't know how your December calendar looks, but mine is possibly crazier than other months (please note that not everything has been added to that calendar pictured above, although most events have). We have church activities, parties, birthdays, appts, and all sorts of other things added to our regular insanity. Just how many Christmas parties is too many? Asking for a friend ...
And as much fun as it is to have all those extra events, it also means I don't have as much time in the evenings, which is when I do most of my writing. And even on evenings I have free, I'm exhausted from all the goings and doings during the day. It's a blessing and curse. So, what's a girl to do? Well, today, I took my laptop with me to preschool so I can write between getting out and when I need to be at my kids' school for Cocoa and Carols where my daughter is singing a couple songs. It's the celebration where they light the Christmas tree and have Santa come. Fun, though sure to be pretty chilly today. So, to keep from losing my normal afternoon writing time on Tues/Thurs between when I get out of school and when my family comes home, I'm improvising. Can I still finish a whole book during the one of the busiest seasons of the year? Well, so far I'm averaging about 2 chapters per 3 days. Not as fast as I've written in the past, but not too shabby. And maybe, on some of those blank squares at the end of the month, I'll be able to speed up and knock out whatever is left. 2026 already has several other projects scheduled early in the year. I'll be getting line edits on Fairest Inn All and working on wrapping that one up to launch at the end of March. I'm also scheduled to do content edits for two other books set to release next year. This is my chance. Feel free to pray for me, that the words continue to flow, and that I can get my mind to take advantage of the moments here and there scattered through my busy schedule so I can knock out another chapter. Do you ever try to cram extra projects into a time already packed extra full? How many Christmas parties are you attending this year?

This is a place for me to tell you about what I'm writing, talk about the process or where some of my ideas came from, or even have other authors come in and talk about their books.
