Do you have lightning bugs where you are? Or, sometimes we call them fireflies. Either way, I'm fascinated by the little creatures. This summer, they seem to be out in greater numbers than the past. They light up my back yard each evening, putting on a visual show worthy of any graphic designer, although they're made by the best. And I've noticed in the last few years, they don't simply hover around the ground, but are glowing all the way up at the tops of the trees, too, expanding the show. So many nights, I'll get my children tucked in bed, grab a quick snack from the kitchen, and stop for a moment at the back door to watch the bugs all over my yard. But just as often, I don't.
Isn't that sad? To miss seeing one of God's lovely spectacles that's right there for my enjoyment every night of the summer? And yet, it's true. I'll get busy doing something else, or distracted, or whatever, and I won't take those few moments to glance through the glass to the outside wonders. But you know what? Even if I don't admire them, they're still there. One of the many things I take for granted. God surrounds us with His creations, the playful and beautiful and interesting and stunning. But how often do we stop and pay attention? This week, do that. Stop and admire something like a firefly. And wonder again at God's creativity and how much He must love us to make such fun bugs. Much more fun than spiders and mosquitoes. ;-) Have you stopped to catch a lightning bug recently?

This is a place for me to share thoughts and ideas not just related to writing. Thoughts about what's going on in my life, about an idea I got that I thought shareworthy, or just a funny anecdote.
